The short answer
GEO describes work intended to help content be understood and considered as a source in generative AI experiences. Its foundation is accessible, useful, clear and verifiable content, not guaranteed visibility.
Answer the question directly
Begin with a question customers actually ask. An article about marketing automation should give a short definition before explaining when it is useful. Describe the problem you solve rather than opening with slogans. Then show scope, an example workflow and meaningful exceptions. A concise answer and a detailed explanation can support each other on the same page.
Make the basis of information visible
Product facts, service scope and company information should be consistent. Link to the relevant source when using external technical information. When discussing experience, explain the work completed and the period measured. Do not present fictional examples as real case studies. Readers should be able to understand both the basis and the limits of a claim.
Keep the SEO foundations
Google says existing SEO fundamentals apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode and that no special AI schema is required. Textual access, internal links and structured information matching visible content remain useful foundations. GEO is therefore not a magic label that bypasses access issues or replaces useful content.
Explain the limits of visibility measurement
AI answers vary by question, time and system. Record the questions you monitor and the review dates. A brand mention in a few sample answers is not a market-wide result. Being cited, receiving a website visit and generating a commercial conversion are different measurements. Base updates on real customer questions and verified information.
A starting checklist
- Give a clear answer near the start.
- Define key terms and service scope.
- Support claims with sources or measurement periods.
