The short answer
If a rug advertisement highlights a particular size, verify that the landing page and basket genuinely offer that option. The same design can have different prices and availability across sizes. Do not silently replace the visitor’s selection with another size.
| Stage | Verify | Possible mismatch |
|---|---|---|
| Advertisement | Actual size and offer | Price for a different size |
| Product page | Selected variant and stock | Small size selected by default |
| Basket | Product reference and size | Silent selection change |
| Reporting | Actual stage by option | Basket treated as sale |
Distinguish the product family from the purchased option
One design may be sold as a runner, a small-room rug and a larger living-room option. Similar imagery does not mean identical purchasing conditions. Record the collection, actual product or variant reference, measurement unit and current availability. A paid marketing brief should name the option being advertised. Only claim that every size is available if current inventory supports it.
Compare the advertised size with the initial page selection
Imagine an ad showing a particular width and length while its link opens a page with the smallest variant selected. The visitor may mistake that price for the advertised option. Check size, displayed price and product reference together after following the ad. This is a fictional workflow example, not a client case. A mobile product-page review checks the accuracy of the selected offer as well as whether the page loads.
Do not generalise stock across an entire design
Google Merchant Center requires availability information to agree with the landing page and checkout. If Merchant Center is used, check this requirement against the actual product data. Another size being in stock does not establish availability of the advertised size. Separate made-to-order and ready-stock options using verified operating conditions; do not guess the appropriate product-data value.
Use room imagery to support clear measurements
In creative production, readable width and length can accompany a contextual room image. Do not infer a guaranteed fit in a customer’s home from a photograph. Explain the actual measuring steps in text and identify illustrative scenes where needed. Confirm details such as shape, fringe inclusion or manufacturing tolerance with the business before publishing them. Do not add unverified product characteristics.
Read the basket line as a separate check
A correct option on the page does not prove that the same variant reaches the basket. In an authorised test, compare the chosen size and product reference with the basket line. Check whether reloading or returning changes the selection. Opening a basket is not a confirmed order. If shipping and fulfilment information varies by product, check that the selected option’s conditions remain visible without creating unnecessary orders on behalf of a customer.
Interpret recurring size questions in context
Repeated questions about one size do not by themselves establish poor targeting. Missing ad information, default selection or unclear inventory could also be involved. Classify the question alongside the product reference and relevant page without unnecessary personal details. Correct an observed problem in one collection before reviewing similar products. Report clicks, basket additions and confirmed orders separately, and do not promise that a correction will increase sales.
A starting checklist
- Record the size and reference.
- Open the ad link on a phone.
- Check selected variant, price and availability.
- Verify the scope of measurements shown.
- Confirm the same option reaches the basket.
- Keep tests separate from orders.
- Associate recurring questions with the product.
